José L. González
José L. González was born in Durango, Mexico. He first came to Minnesota to attend St. John’s University and has since lived most of his life in Saint Paul, MN. José has a degree in psychology and a Masters in Social Work degree from the University of Minnesota. He has worked with migrant farmworkers, in child/adolescent mental health units, and with county financial and child protection systems. His leadership positions include serving as director of social workers and interpreters for the City of Minneapolis and as director of the Office of Minority and Multicultural Health for the Minnesota Department of Health. José also served as a program officer for the Bush Foundation. Currently, José is the director of LatinoLEAD, an initiative of the Minneapolis Foundation with a vision to have Latino leadership reflected in all sectors.
